FSX Revival
« on: February 06, 2012, 10:44:09 AM »
Hello folks, as we sit on the Dawn of the next generation of Flight, I would like to suggest that we flight simmers in the IOGC have a few short flights on fsx to prepare for the launch.

I personally use some scenery files which I strongly suggest to anyone, these make the game that bit more realistic.  Search UK2000
Recently PMDG models were also pointed out to me as a good creator of extremely realistic.

It seems that FSX has gone un-noticed for some time now, and on a new Dawn I think it is a good training tool.
UK2000 also provides the AFCAD files for the airports.

I will make a point of hunting down all my discs for FSX this week. In the past we did a huge amount of hours in FSX in both VFR and IFR flights, props, jets and helis. We have flown the lenghth of the UK on short hops, we even did some island hopping is Scotland, multiple flights to the Netherlands, Germany and France as well as some middle eastern routes.

I might be a bit rusty on the old IFR stuff but I am sure it wall come back. I will be lloking for a Copilot as well if anyone is interested.

I just had a read over a preview of the up and coming flight sim from Microsoft. Did we all know they are releasing it free? it's going to be "freemium" meaning you get Hawaii's big island and one aircraft free, if you want more you have to buy the addons. I hope this does not go the way of buying regions to fly in. Why do they have to fuck with things like this, I like the idea of giving it away free but isnt that just what a demo is?

Region by region purchases and aircraft purchases to fill your game up will become very costly.

I am starting to look at Xplane again as it relased XPlane 10 in December last year.

well if it is a case of releasing regions, I will only be buying the UK area/ Europe, I never fly anywhere else.
But I am looking forward to it, I am starting to get the plans down for a new PC build at the moment for this and Arma3, I am going to get that Track IR 5 as well. cannot wait, though it is probably a brain child for when I return from sea again.
